Chris Carter’s seminal work ‘The Space Between’ is to be given a vinyl release by Glasgow’s Optimo Music.
Originally recorded between 1974 and 1978 at Industrial Records studio in London ‘The Space Between’ album was first released as a 90 minute cassette in 1980 on Throbbing Gristle’s Industrial Records label. It wasn’t until 1991 that it was again released by Mute Records on CD. Although tracks from ‘The Space Between’ have appeared on numerous compilations since its release, the album has never been available on vinyl until now…

Optimo DJ god JD Twitch comes to The Alibi in London next weekend to play an exclusive early set of US/UK punk, post-punk and hardcore, based on last year’s ‘60 Minutes of Fear’ compilation. Hailed by Pitchfork as “a sound fetishist’s treasure trove of the accidental glories of no-fi technology” this looks totally unmissable.
Support comes from Gold Blood who have pant-wettingly been described as “collusion of Liaisons Dangereuses, AFX and Black Flag” and The Beat djs.

Music. Great music.

Amazing. The full 7 hours from the last Optimo. Word has it they finished with Liquid Liquid, which would be apt.

Record Label

Optimo Music is the musical outlet of Glasgow’s legendary Optimo club night. With a mandate to bring you “the plethora of local talent lighting up our lives and exciting our ears” they’ve so far accumulated some monumental releases - from Den Haan’s club anthem ‘Release The Beast’ to the twisted, late night tales of ‘Big Ned’.
They’ve just released a wonderful 12″ of David Lynch-ian dusty pianos, scuttling guitars, sonorous vocals and selective percussion by Louise McVey & Cracks in the Concrete. Watch the video after the jump or download now from Juno Digital.

What Wave
Park Attack are three Scottish noisemakers who released their debut EP, ‘Last Drop At Hide Out’, back in 2003 on the mighty OSCARR label (run by the guys from Optimo!) and then dropped a similarly fantastic full-length called ‘Half Past Human’ on Textile Records in 2006.
They’re a No Wave band, despite the protestations (they call themselves What Wave), so think DNA, Theoretical Girls, early Sonic Youth, Teenage Jesus & The Jerks…. but, labels and genres mean nothing anyways …. You’ll either get this, or not!
Download ‘Tongue n Groove’ (currently down), from their first EP, then run along to here and buy it…. and pick up the album here. And, after the jump, watch a live vid…
