In keeping with the notion that we only post about London music on thisisoffset, lets not fail to dissapoint the proud inhabitants and readers of this here blog, Corey Reid resides in London. Hurrah. He is better known under the alias Arch M. He works and plays on his own, the music is something which is equally as solitary. Sometime last year he recorded a free 7 track download only cassette released by both Kaleidoscope and Cavern (the later of which are set to release his debut 12″ early this year).
‘Mountain Tan‘ is the immovable elements resisting the inevitable earge to dash uphill against their wishes and dive from a picturesque cliff top plunging into the glistening blue below. Splash. Majestic guitars soar atop glittering electronics and subtle reverberation. It’s cool, it’s airy, it’s refreshing. It is the cold wind in your face on a summers day. It’s thoughtful, multi-layered pop, like a more stripped down Holy Fuck playing Nisennenmondai songs, with all the urgency of the latter only realised in a much more brittle, delicate manner. It’s positively beautiful and the perfect way to wash away those new years blues.
